Earlier this year I was asked by Print Club London to recreate and illustrate a poster for Roman Polanski's 'Rosemary's Baby' for a Film 4 Screening at Somerset House. Needless to say I jumped at the opportunity;
“I love horror films and Rosemary’s Baby is up there with the best of
them. Countless viewings later the ending still disturbs me. Plus it
meant I got to study pictures of Mia Farrow for about two weeks solidly.
‘Rosemary’s Baby’ is the second of Polanski’s apartment trilogy and the
foreboding Dakota building is obviously central to everything that
happens; I tend to spend most of the film deciding which one I love
more: Mia Farrow or the building. Print Club, Somerset House, Film 4 and
classic horror = dream collaboration. Suspiria or the Wicker Man next,
please!” – Mat Pringle
I tweeted about it and Mia Farrow tweeted back "Wow! Awesome!" which I'll be living off for the rest of my life.
The print is part of a great selection of posters inspired by films that you can see at Somerset House for the next couple of weeks including work by the always excellent Joe Wilson. It's available to buy here and I'll be selling some artist's prints in the next month or so. I'll also be blogging about some alternate drafts as well which seem too good to not show anyone even if I do say so myself.
