'A Study of Sports and Leisure' exhibition

I am very happy to announce that some of my illustrations are included in a new exhibition that opens next week; 'A Study of Sports and Leisure'.  The private view is on Thursday and the exhibition is open throughout June.  The gallery is called Exposure and it's located about two minutes from Oxford Circus oddly enough right next door to the Graphical Tree where some of my gigantic spirit bears were roaming earlier this year.

Curated by the super-talented Asa Wikman and featuring a whole bunch of amazing illustrators the exhibition focuses on character design specifically in the realms of sports and leisure. Obviously I focused my attentions on the trashier end of leisure pursuits.  I have three original illustrations for sale in the exhibition and there will be a limited run of prints available too.  More info here.

Secret 7 - 'The Beast'

I think it's safe to reveal my Secret 7 sleeve artwork now the exhibition is finished and all the records have been sold.  I decided to illustrate Laura Marling's 'The Beast' which given the option of Nas, Public Enemy and Nick Drake wasn't the most obvious choice for me - I fucking love 'Benny and the Jets' too - but 'The Beast' moved me more from an illustration perspective.  Besides Nas hasn't made a decent record since 'Illmatic', Public Enemy haven't made a decent record in twenty years and I over played Nick Drake records as a student.

It's a challenge to work straight onto the sleeve with no fuck ups but having done Secret 7 in 2012 I felt more confident about it and I actually really like this illustration especially the colours (although my scanner has flattened them somewhat) and  I can't often say that about my work.  I'd love to hear from the person that bought it too.

Amazing work again from Kevin at Secret 7 - such a terrific event and all for charity too - this year was for Art Against Knives.  Looking forward to next years already!

'Oh The Horror - The Shining' lino print

Here are some process shots to accompany the on-line release of my 'Oh the Horror' lino print set made especially for this year's Pick Me Up exhibition at Somerset House. This is a linocut print inspired by the Stanley Kubrick film 'The Shining'.  I'll post up the process shots for the other two next week. The final photo in the set is courtesy of the talented George 'Vengeful God' Simkin.

Prints are available now in my shop individually and as a set.

Print Club Group Show

I'm very happy to announce I've been invited to exhibit in the upcoming Print Club Group Show which begins tomorrow evening.  Given my time spent learning to screen-print at Print Club it should probably make me feel all warm and nostalgic.  As it is it's been a bit manic getting the prints done in time, for which I owe Puck Collective and in particular Babycrow a huge debt of thanks.  Besides nostalgia is one of my least favourite things; "Don't give in to nostalgia" and repeat...

Come along and see amazing prints by the likes of Heiko, Yann Brien and a heavy Puck Collective presence via Babycrow, Margaux Carpentier and Robbies Brown Shoes. Basically it's going to be the rad.
